Can Detoxing Help Me?

In the past I’ve dealt with health symptoms that appeared to have no identifiable cause. They were minor things like skin rashes or acne that seemed to pop up for no identifiable reason. After going to my doctor and spending a lot of time researching alternatives to medicines, I started to try various methods of detoxification. I found out a lot about it and improved my health along the way!

Detoxification (or detox) is the process by which we eliminate toxins from our body. Toxins are all around us: in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the liquids we drink. Our body absorbs them through your lungs, skin and digestive system.

Detoxing is a natural process that our body already does. The body has systems in place already to remove these toxins and eliminate them.

We can help those processes in a couple of ways. First, we can make changes to our environment and what we consume to reduce the amount of toxins that enter our body. Second, we can take a more active role in helping our body eliminate the toxins already there by performing a detox.

Performing a detox has the potential to make improvements to how we feel as well as losing excess weight.

Why Toxins Make Weight Loss Harder

One of the ways our body controls toxins is it stores them. I’m sure you can guess where they are stored: That’s right, in our fat cells. If needed, our body will make even more fat cells to tuck away all those toxins to try and keep your body working well.

It happened to me before I tried detoxing, where I had successfully taken off a few pounds but then got stalled short of my goal. Toxins were likely contributing to that, so in order to get past that plateau I needed to deal with them.

Toxins Can Negatively Impact Our Health

Toxins can kill the beneficial bacteria in our gut, causing digestive problems.

They can affect other systems in our body, causing things like acne and rashes. They may even have a detrimental effect on our lungs, leading to becoming easily fatigued.

How to Detox

There are a lot of ideas about how to detox, but they don’t need to include starving yourself or living on lemon water. It may surprise you, but one of the best ways to help your body along with its detoxification process is by consuming certain kinds of tea.
